Confirmed sighting: McDonald's Nestle After Eight McFlurry
Posted: 22:50 Tue 06-Dec-2005. Price: 99p (price and participation may vary). Location: McDonald's, Swiss Cottage, London. Nutritional unusualness: Slightly less fat, 50% more sugar (63.6g per serving) than Dairy Milk McFlurry.
Snackspot
reports: Damn, I'm disappointed this has got so much sugar in it (even by conventional "McFlurry" standards), as this is genuinely a worthy sequel to McDonald's previous Cadbury Dairy Milk Deluxe McFlurry (which itself pleasantly reminded me of the acclaimed Cadbury Creme Egg one, possibly because it used a similarly textured - though differently coloured - "fondant" topping?) Anyway, not only does this feature convincingly cheap-tasting Nestle "dark milk chocolate pieces", but the real stroke of genius is the authentic "smooth peppermint flavoured white fondant sauce", which is obviously invisible to the eye against the ice-cream, but detectable via both its stickiness and the taste, just like a giant frozen mashed-up After Eight.
...In other icy ingenuity:
Richmond Ice Cream have produced Rolo, After Eight and Smarties sticks and cones (from £1/ pack), and enlarged their low-fat Skinny Cow take-home range with
Chocolate or Toffee Swirl Pots, and Strawberry Sticks (both 4 for £1.99); while "the perfect accompaniment to Christmas mince pies" is one serving suggestion for Churchfields Farmhouse's pioneeringly blue-cheese-flavoured Seriously Stilton Ice Cream (£4.50/ 500ml).

Comment: As far as I'm aware AFter Eight McFlurry was only avialable for the Christmas period, that's what it has to do with it.

Comment: So you tell me why After Eight McFlurry is "Not really a summer product"? Are mint Magnums not summer products? of course they are, After Eight is on sale all year round, the McFlurry might have been over crimbo but all McFlurrys are short term limited editions, so just go into Mcdonalds, buy a plain McFlurry and break in small pieces of After Eight Mints yourself and stir them in for heavenly refreshment this summer, you can even throw some pretzels in there if you're feeling adventurous! ooh and some tabasco!

Comment: Strange though how After Eights are available all year round, but we only seem to notice them at christmas, when we give them as "side gifts" because of their posh packaging.
