Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Kinnerton Cocoa Deli (and Lily O'Briens) Lolly Truffle Confirmed sighting: Kinnerton Cocoa Deli (and Lily O'Briens) Lolly Truffle
Posted: 19:36 Fri 16-Dec-2005. Price: 61p. Location: Tesco Express, Hampstead, London. Sub-flavours: Cookies and Cream; Caramel Toffee Biscuit Crunch; Mixed Berry Mousse. Nutritional unusualness: About 26g "carbohydrate" per lolly (most of which must be sugar); Manufactured in a "Nut Free Zone".
Snackspot reports: Seemingly supporting the controversial theory of "Trickle-down Economics", these are virtually identical to the Lolly Chocs that you may have seen in Marks and Spencer recently, right down to the size (both 45g), nutritional information, and the wood-effect plastic stick with two holes in that keeps the chocolate in place. Then again, the Marks ones are available in slightly different - though equally luxurious - flavours (Chocolate - "layered mousse filling with cocoa nibs in smooth milk chocolate"; Raspberry - "layered raspberry mousse filling in smooth white chocolate"; and Mochaccino - "layered mousse filling with ground coffee" etc), and cost a whole penny more compared to Tesco's value offering. I'm not saying anyone's copying anyone else here, it seems likely that Kinnerton (who are aiming these at adults "to counter [the company's] dependence on Easter and Christmas") have either licensed these to Marks and Spencer or are making them on their behalf (or vice-versa!).

...Needless to say, the "Belgian milk chocolate" in the first two Kinnerton varieties is very pleasant indeed, though the range might benefit from an "orange" option - as has recently been added to both Ummah Halal Chocolate (40p) and would-be Toblerone rival Swiss Delice Chocobloc (from 2.86/ 400g).
