Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Del Monte Winter Warmer Confirmed sighting: Del Monte Winter Warmer
Posted: 20:06 Sat 31-Dec-2005. Price: 1.17/ litre. Location: Tesco, Brent Cross, London. Nutritional unusualness: Fairly standard 10.6g "carbohydrate" (ie sugar) per 100ml, "Virtually fat free".
Snackspot reports: And, as the sun sets on 2005, what better way to toast this year's 200+ snack sightings than a microwaved mug of Derek "Del" Monte's Apple, Plum and Lemon Juice (from concentrate) with Cinnamon, "Best Served Gently Warmed"? While it may lack the kick associated with similarly-named products from both Pimm's and Tic Tacs, this really isn't too bad, apart from a slight taste that I can only describe as "twigs and leaves". And yes, it did in fact launch last year - though on the carton it claims it "will only be around for approximately six months and will change with the seasons", implying they're planning a special "Tropical Warmer" for summer 2006?

...Disappointingly, this was also one of the few vaguely-seasonally themed products - including Quality Street Old Favourites, Minty Chocolate Orange and Nestle Pizazz - not to be reduced by 50% or more in my local supermarkets (in accordance with prophecy) - while, in other festive fluids: "Philip Buckley-Mellor" located Pepsi Max Punch in Christchurch, Dorset (still no sign of Pepsi Max Cino so far), and I was reassured to see Sainsbury's taking on the "Winter Collections" offered (I think) by both Airwick and Ambi Pur with this jovial invitation to "Try turning the washing up into a fun and festive experience with Mulberry Spice washing up liquid" - a guaranteed party-starter for just 79p.

Comment: This was a limited edition last year and this year, Del Monte introduced a St Clemment for the summer as a special edition.
