Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Pepsi Max Cino Confirmed sighting: Pepsi Max Cino
Posted: 13:24 Mon 09-Jan-2006. Price: £2.18 for a six pack of cans, £1.32 for a 2 litre bottle. Location: ASDA Wal*Mart Swindon. Nutritional unusualness: Zero of everything.
"Dave" reports: It's not bad actually, the flavours go together quite well, I was expecting it to be really hideous. Described on the side of the can as "Low calorie cola-flavoured soft drink with coffee flavouring, with sweetners". I can't wait to try Coca-Cola Blak as I hear it is Coke mixed with real coffee, not just coffee flavour.

...Top marks to "Dave" for tracking down this hotly awaited product (speaking of which, can you also serve it warm?) - while, to maintain cosmic cola-balance, "Phillerena" meanwhile grabbed this (presumably imported) Coke Fanta Greenz for 25p from "Jack Fulton, Sherburn In Elmet", confessing: I thought this was Apple Splash at first but closer inspection revealed it to be an apple, lime and melon Fanta variant. According to the label it was bottled in Northern Ireland. The taste is very nice and refreshing, the cantaloupe melon standing out the most, giving it that musty melon taste. I think it actually tastes nicer than Apple Splash as there is more flavour to it. Definitely worth seeking out if you are a Fanta lover. 5 bottles for a pound too so a lot cheaper than normal Fanta!

Comment: Fanta Greenz is easily available over here in Northern Ireland. Many supermarkets are carrying it as well as fillig stations. Very overly sweet if u ask me. Cant wait to try the coke blak tho!

Comment: You probably could warm it through, although I prefer all of my fizzy drinks served ice cold from the fridge and poured over a glass full of ice cubes.

Comment: Finally got the chance to try the long awaited Cino today from an ASDA in Perry Bar and I must say I am very disappointed. At £1.32 a bottle it's not cheap (ASDA's own Cola is just 44p a bottle and is 100% nicer) and the coffee taste is more like a 'mouldy vanilla' than a shot of freshly ground.

The Coke alternative should just call it a day and forget the whole silly idea.

On a semi-related note: What flavours of Coke would people like to see?

Comment: Liquorice coke, orange coke and strawberry coke.

Comment: I'm still waiting to try it, my stupid ASDA doesn't have it yet. Does anyone know of anywhere else that has it yet?

I would like to see: Peanut butter Coke, Chocolate Coke or Toasted Almond Coke (I seriously think these Nut additions would work, what with Coke having that sweet, caramel-like taste.)

Comment: I managed to get hold of a bottle of Pepsi Max Cino last night at my local Asda (£1.32 per bottle – not 4 bottles for £3 no more unfortunately!). I must say I was impressed. I’m not a lover of coffee at the best of times, but because of the press this product has had I thought it was a must to try. It was almost like a strong tasting “normal” coke cola, but less in fat/calories!!

I don’t know if it has been mentioned on here, but I also spotted the limited edition white Twix at Asda, although I didn’t try it looked very tasty! Also Asda has replaced its Toffee Apple flavoured milk with “Belgium Chocolate” which is apparently “good for you”……

Comment: Pepsi has traditionally been served warm in Russia - Kruschev took the Pepsi challenge at the World's Fair, gave them an exclusive license for the USSR but didn't give street vendors any way to chill the cans - hence warm Pepsi before the coffee ;-)

Diet Cherry Coke now on sale in Boots (Bath)

I regret it now, but I didn’t buy one. This isn’t limited edition, it had labelled “new edition”

Posted: 10:26 Wed 25-Jan-2006 by "Matt" # permalink comment
Comment: Diet vanilla is still available here. It will be retired soon though. Diet cherry is a replacement for vanilla and I think the diet lemon. Coke with lime is to be released in the summer, but in my opinion (unless coke uk change the flavour to suit our palates more) isn't too great a flavour (I've tasted the Dutch and the American types)...

Posted: 10:00 Sat 11-Feb-2006 by "Kaptain Korolev" # permalink comment
Comment: The Kaptain has not frequented the snacking spot site for a number of months, but he has returned to offer a humble siting of a delicious Pepsi Kola.

He found it while exploring the aisles of his local supermarket on a Friday afternoon. The shelves empty, the Kaptain was after a novelty snack or two and joyfully happened upon single bottles of the Pepsi Kola Cinos and his aspartamised buddy friend the Diet Cherry Coke.

The Kaptain has to say he enjoyed the Cherry beverage but was somewhat... turbled... with the Cino kola. The Kaptain in fact doe not know what turbled means but was somewhat taken by the sound of the word in his brainsack when he was typing the last sentence.

The Kaptain likes a good word, much like he enjoys a tasty snack.

I wil be upset if Diet Vanilla is being stopped...It makes Diet coke alot better and has that sweetness that normal coke has...

Comment: Ended up buying a 2L bottle from Morrison's a week or so ago out of curiosity. The six packs were flying off the shelf pretty fast due to 2 for 1 offer. I was expecting more to be honest - not really a coffee flavour, in fact, reminded me of vanilla Coke a bit. Pretty bland and inoffensive. I expect the Coke version will have more of a punch.

But wow... has to be the least artificial tasting pepsi I've ever had, like eating pure pure caramel, without the associated sugar rush, now we just have to worry about the caffeine! O_O

(the link to the ad itself: http://www.boardsmag.com/screeningroom/commercials/2475/ credits "Juliian Ronnie (at!) Mammoth Music", but perhaps he was just responsible for tracking it down - maybe when they couldn't get the rights to Debbie Harry and Iggy Pop singing "Well, Did You Ever" instead?)

Comment: Have now road tested the Pepsi Cino. It smells a bit like Cream Soda which is a good start. It tastes a bit less sweet than its smell promises, like something someone with grown-up tastebuds would prefer and I am perfectly happy to drink the rest of the 6-pack I bought but I wouldn't rate it over bog standard Pepsi Max. Mission accomplished. Next mission is the Diet Coke Cherry for which I have high hopes, although I fear I am doomed to be disappointed.

Comment: this is foul, i wont ever drink/buy it again, what a stupid idea from pepsi to make coffee coke, copying coca-cola's move to introduce non-fruit flavours(vanilla) and making a monstrosity in the process, vanilla coke was beautiful, original and innovative from coca-cola, pepsi cino is disgusting and an embarrsment from pepsico, what a farce, next time pepsico, try thinking of decent flavours and stop wasting our time

Comment: I have just found Pepsi Max Cino. I love it! Not only is it diet (I hate diet drinks - but drink them because they are better for me) but it is delicious. Sounds like I might be in the minority which is unfotunate because I would hate them to take it off the market when I have only just found it. I can't really describe the taste - it's a little bit like the marshmallow jelly bellys if you've ever tried those! I can't get enough - it's very moreish and quite addictive. I have also only just found Vanilla coke - which is also great but not as scrumptious as the Pepsi Max Cino. Avid fan of diet cherry coke too. Normal diet coke and pepsi are tasteless - when you have been used to the full fat version.

I would also like to see: Peanut butter Coke, Chocolate Coke or Toasted Almond Coke previously mentioned um ummmm.
