Confirmed sighting: McVitie's Jaffa Cakes Lemon and Lime
Posted: 14:28 Fri 20-Jan-2006. Price: 56p/ Standard box of 12. Location: Sainsbury's, Wood Green. Nutritional unusualness: "Each McVitie's Jaffa Cake contains lots of energy, and only 1g of fat per cake. That is why they are recommended by sports nutritionists", apparently.
"Lem" reports: Nice and tangy. Much better than the revolting mixed berry ones. We've already demolished the pack in our office. Sorry can't enclose a pic but it resembles the usual Jaffa Cake box but with writing in green.
...No worries, "Lem", I managed to find a pack in my local Saino's - though no sign as yet of the "Zingy Blackcurrant" that the packet insists "Make Sure You Also Try..." I thought the jam still tasted a bit cheap (ie slightly more like
disinfectant) than the usual orange, but you can definitely detect the lime in there (which goes well with the dark chocolate) - and, as you say, it seems more suited to the Jaffa format than "cherry and raspberry" (or even Polish white chocolate and blueberry). And in other biscuity bonhomie: in the wake of "Magnetic Ham Sandwich's" disappointment over Rocky RUKs, it turns out that Rocky Cookies (89p, Costcutter in Kentish Town) are basically just big Maryland coconut choc-chips; while The Grocer magazine reveals that Posh Fresh Mint Choc makers Gu have added not just Fru Fruity Puds (caution, Flash) but also fresh chilled chocolate brownies (£3.99 for box of 8) to their self-consciously pretentious range.

Comment: This has nothing to do with Jaffa Cakes (as far as I'm aware), but I just wanted to say that it's heartening to see that the legend "ALL CELEBRITY POSTINGS ARE IMPERSONATED ... POORLY" has been successfully migrated. Woo!

Comment: We had these at my party at the weekend! They were at the Sainsbury's in Balham, south London. The general concensus was that on the first bite they were sacrilegious- but everyone pulled the same face on the second bite, the "so wrong, and yet it works!" face.
Not going to be surpassing the orange cake any time soon, but at least it allowed for the "cake or buscuit?" argument to be trotted out again. As a side point- can these really be called jaffa cakes, when they're not orange flavour?

Comment: Yes i found them in the Sainbury's in wantage, Oxfordshire.
What is the world coming too? I mean they're not even green! They're a poor replacement for any jaffaholic

Comment: Talking about biscuits, I got some of the new Orange flavoured Rockys in Asda earlier today. They were on buy-one-get-one-free offer.

Comment: Local Sainsburys has both, got a packet of each and am slightly underwhelmed.
The blackcurrent are not right and the lemon and lime are a bit bland really.
