Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Cadbury Dairy Milk Creme Egg Bar Confirmed sighting: Cadbury Dairy Milk Creme Egg Bar
Posted: 12:18 Wed 08-Mar-2006. Price: 0.62. Location: Co. Kerry, Ireland. Nutritional unusualness: None noted.
"be" reports: Hmmmm! I spotted this about a month ago, and have mentioned it a few times, although it never made its way onto the "Awaiting Sightings" section. Okay, so the product speaks for itself... it's a Cadbury Dairy Milk, filled with Creme Egg. Although I was defiant at first, ie a Creme Egg should be a Creme Egg, and all these varieties are beginning to annoy me, I have to say it's a really good product. Good for taking a few pieces and saving the rest for later - the Creme Egg hit for the times when I have no spoon! Also spotted Happy Hippo Chocolate Cream variety - definitely does not match the original!

...Sorry "be", I'd been following this one quite closely (especially the previous submission where you described Cadbury messing with the original "egg" as "nearly sacramonious") but couldn't find any photo evidence until you finally came up with the goods (and even now, I'm wondering if it's technically an "International" sighting, as it hasn't been seen outside Ireland?) Either way, it might not console fans of spring's annual McDonald's Creme Egg McFlurry, which this year seems to have been replaced by a Cadbury Mini Eggs McFlurry - "Dairy ice cream swirled with crushed Cadbury Mini Eggs and a smooth Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate sauce".

Comment: True. I saw rep today and defo after Easter. It was only being trialled in Ireland. However some scots have been travelling to Ireland and buying stock there, hence the sightings in scotland. I reckon this willbe a massive product.

Comment: I'm a rep in independent convenience stores (not a cadbury rep tho!) and I heard today that they were supposed to be being launched in Londis stores only on 10th April, but now cadbury have told Londis (MBL) that they are releasing them now, and some cash n carrys have them already and tesco's will next week too. I work in Glasgow so maybe it is a Scottish thing?! Might be a load of rubbish but thats what Londis said today

I have been obsessively scouring the shops for these and glad to see I am not the only one! I tend to find Woolworths are very quick off the mark with new releases - but no joy yet. I even searched eBay jeez I need to get a life!

They were selling like nobody's business though - and I bought the very last two in the shop after work tonight. You get 6 bite-size chunks for your money, and each one has it's own yolk.

Comment: Exclusive to Woolworths and erm all the other shops that have been selling them. That'll be that pesky grey market.

Anyway, they are wonderful and you should buy as many as you can carry.

However, I've encountered a bit of resistance re the egg/bar thing.

There should be no problem with putting Creme Eggs in a bar.

That's like knocking back an omlette because you'd rather have a boiled egg.

Live a little!

Comment: THEY ARE LIVERPOOL!!!! THEY ARE AVAILABLE IN A SMALL/MEDIUM RETAILER ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF THE CBD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-

I can give a brief review - consistency is very, very different to the Creme Egg - far more chocolate that egg filling, so it's very chocolately (quite sickly) but a true Easter delight...

If I had torank it in the Dairy Milk pecking order, I would do it like this:

1. Classic 2. Bubbles 3. Orange 4. CREME EGG 5. Wafer 6. Mint 7. Borneville 8. Turkish

NEWS JUST IN!! they are making a Mini egg one as well!!!!

The girl behind the counter said these delicious items (oh yes, I have devoured my purchases like a lion kill on the Serengeti) had been in stock for over two weeks. As they didn't have them in Hereford Woolies a few days ago I saw no option but to give in to eBay. 46p each in Woolies! One hell of a lot cheaper than eBay... Let's hope they get up to Lancashire by the end of the week as my Midlands visit will soon be over. I feel a restocking mission coming on.....

Tut! I might have to drag my big arse off the sofa an get my own snacks if this carries on..methinks that's his secret plan anyway. I have been hallucinating and fantasising over a bag load of Thornton's Brazil Nut toffee I ate on the train from Cambridge last week. Usually I don't like Thornton's. They're like the LIttle and Large of the chocolate world. However, their toffee is more Morecambe and Wiseor even, dare I say, Will Hay and the fat boy.

Comment: They are even here in Norfolk and have been in our village shop for a couple of weeks (along with the re-appearance of Raspberry Ruffle bars) so we may not have gas, but we've Creme Egg bars.

Quite nice, makes a change from my usual weekend treat of Frys Choc Orange or Choc Mint bars.

Comment: Dairy milk with creme egg .. I first saw a empty packet in my boyfriends house it looked delicously so i had 2 run to the shop to buy why.... I know it tastes just like a creme egg but still its a good idea

Comment: Well I bought one of these amazing new chocolate bars for my colleague who flatly rejected it on the grounds that it simply is the original dairy milk. In fact she wouldn't even try it and gave it away. Question for the forum... how spoilt is that?

Comment: It's about expectation - if you ask for a Dairy Milk and get a Creme Egg Dairy Milk it under-delivers. Anyone knows that
Posted: 10:41 Thu 18-May-2006 by "Worsel" # permalink comment
Comment: Ok let me re-phrase the question. If you ask for a dairy milk original, and you get a cream egg dairy milk (through innocent mistake), how annoyed should you be?
Posted: 10:51 Thu 18-May-2006 by "Charlie" # permalink comment
Comment: Very annoyed - you are getting something completely different from your orignal choice! it's not like getting a whole nut bar where the majority is the same and you can just pick the nuts out - the whole goodness of dairy milk is ruined by creme.

Comment: And this recent revelation from Cadbury's that more than 1 million bars of it's chocolate have been contaminated with salmonella means that i will be avoiding cadbury's chocolate from now on, not that i ever did buy alot of it in the first place.

Comment: I've been eating one a day since they appeared, but now I can't find them. Have they been discontinued, like the label on the shelf says in Sainsbury's? Cadbury wont give me a straight answer, I dont think they understand my question, they keep telling me the Eggs are very popular.

Comment: On Sunday I had one of the new Cadbury Creme Egg Twisted bars from my local Co-op. The chunkier size gives much more room for the fondant filling inside than the older Dairy Milk Creme Egg bars this thread is about. There's a lovely thick chocolate coating too, so no chance of any accidental breakage like there was with those older bars. A real winner from Cadbury's.

Comment: Rose - alot of places already seem to have this in distribution so if your intrested in trying its probably worth you having a look in places like Woolies and as Zeddy said WHSmith.

Zeddy - I havent stopped reading the forum Zeddy its just a little slow and not the most active (or welcoming) of communities out there. Thanks for the tip on WH Smith...hopefully today I will get hold of one of these.

Comment: Jim, I think the "smoother" goo texture is probably due to the bar having been made recently, i.e. the goo was fresh. The creme eggs are made all year round and some are bound to be pretty old by the time we buy them. I think the sugar has crystallised in the goo giving it a coarser texture. Have you ever seen a BB date on a creme egg?

Comment: Oh yes! It's on the wrapper somewhere, they always say July! Are you dumb? Do you need a education course or something?

Comment: steady, Booga - but seriously: do Creme Eggs only have a shelflife of a few months, or is it referring to July of the following year..?

Comment: Post a photo of a foiled wrapped Creme Egg's BB date then.

Comment: Zeddy - I think you are probably correct there. The freshness probably does account for the smoother texture.

Snackspot - I honestly think the shelf life of creme eggs has to be ages!! Just think about how long they sit there on the shelves.

Whilst on the topic of creme eggs im so suprised there arent more varities avalible in the UK. In the US they get the Cadburys Orange creme egg which I tryed a while back... http://chocolatemission.blogspot.com/2008/04/april-7th-cadburys-orange-creme-egg.html Why we dont have it over here i dont know!
