Confirmed sighting: McDonald's Yorkie McFlurry
Posted: 20:30 Tue 09-May-2006. Price: 99p. Location: McDonald's, Swiss Cottage, London. Nutritional unusualness: 51.30g sugar, 10.03g saturated fat per McFlurry (vs 40g sugar, 7.2g sat fat in Dairy Milk McFlurry).
Snackspot
reports: Another
terrifying team-up from Nestle and McDonald's - the "milk chocolate chunks" have that authentic "left for months in a railway station vending machine" blandness of Yorkie, offset by what seemed to be McDonald's "classic" choc sauce that they used to use in sundaes. Overall: very reminiscent of the KFC Chocolate Fudge Brownie Avalanche I saw in Golders Green a few months back.
...Or, for younger diners, Mickey D's have thoughtfully provided the Happy Meal Mix N Muddle (with Smarties sprinkles - a mere 34g sugar, 4.3g sat fat per serving). Elsewhere, "ksirrah" "ran across" the relaunched Magnum Dark Coconut Sound in "Waitrose Marylebone", enthusing: Quite a delicious ice cream bar - the mild coconut ice cream and slightly bitter dark chocolate provide a nice contrast with sweetness and crunch added via crunchy caramelized sugar pieces embedded in the chocolate. Plus, "Paul" claims he saw McDonald's Onion Rings/ Rolo Milkshake "on sale in McDonald's near the station in Redhill, Surrey. Also on sale there was a 'New Rolo Milkshake' - using this branch as a testbed for new products maybe!"

Comment: Just to back up that comment:-
McDonalds in Redhill have Onion Rings at 99p for 6, and a Rolo Milkshake (usual Milkshake prices).
Anyone seen it in other branches? None of my local branches seen to have either item (but they're all franchised outlets so they wouldn't be used for testing).

Comment: Rolo milkshake sounds...interesting. Presumably a caramel and chocolate flavour shake?

Comment: Have you had a play around with the "Nutritional counter" on the McDonald's website? It's bloody shocking, but lots of fun. You add the components of your meal together, and it calculates the calorific value. Even sticking to a modest meal of a "McChicken Sandwich, medium fries, small milkshake and an apple pie" you clock up over 1000 calories.
It's so fun trying to concoct the most fattening creation possible.

Comment: Have tried the Yorkie McFlurry - it's pleasant enough, fairly small chocolate chunks though - and it's mixed with a chocolate sauce. It's a good chocolate and ice cream experience, but it didn't remind me of Yorkies so much. Ho hum.

Comment: Who wants to be reminded of Yorkie? I think it'd be best if everyone pretended it doesnt exist.
