Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Slush Puppie Sugar Free Appleicious Confirmed sighting: Slush Puppie Sugar Free Appleicious
Posted: 11:32 Sat 02-Sep-2006. Price: 1.35 normal, 1.65 large. Location: Meadowhell, Sheffield. Nutritional unusualness: Soylent green is people!.
"charl" reports: Slush Puppie have long peddled their fluorescent wares with a spit in the eye of nutrition. The hat-wearing "puppie" worships only at the altars of sugar, ice, colourings and flavourings. So what happens to the foundations of Slush Puppie if one of the magical quadrumvirate is removed? Nothing! It tastes like a delicious apple flavour Slush Puppie. The sweetness is a little less cloying, the tongue still turns the same shade of 6-weeks-after-death and the brain freeze is just as effective. Delicious! Puppie, please make a sugar free blue raspberry now!

...And, in other Appletise-alikes, "EzChile" paid an alarming 1.25 for a bottle of Lucozade Apple in the Wild Bean Cafe, Orpington, Kent ("Nutritional unusualness: A whopping 2% apple juice from concentrate, 24% glucose fructose syrup, flavourings inc caffeine"), spluttering: Tastes like someone's tried to make an apple drink by attempting to melt an apple flavoured boiled sweet in some "not very lemony lemonade". It's almost clear, very sweet, unimpressively watery and at 1.25 a go, extremely overpriced. I'll stick with the Appletise for my fizzy appley goodness from now on. I'd also say that this is the second weakest of the Lucozade flavours, after that horrible clear one - while "john" made the wildly unsubstantiated claim that: Well I was looking around my local co-op when I stumbled across Coke Apple!!!! It had huge signs advertising it why release it just after the release of Coke Zero, so I tasted it it's lovely tickled my taste buds all over so yummy definitely buy it again have no pic should get one soooon!

Comment: Funnily, 'good for you' slush puppies have been around for yonks. At my school (1996) we had "Vitamax" slushies, which pointed out how good for you they were - particularly the Folic Acid, although how useful this was is debatable, since it was at a school, and a boy's school at that. Anyway, they may have been named Vitamax, but the syrup always turned up in a Slush Puppie branded van...
