Confirmed sighting: Pringles Gourmet Tiger Prawn and Crushed Garlic Flavour
Posted: 09:44 Sat 09-Sep-2006. Price: 55p. Location: Sainsbury's Savacentre, Sydenham. Nutritional unusualness: None noted.
"AuntyBigBug" reports: Maybe I have an unsophisticated palate, but I found these rather nasty! The garlic is hard to detect and the prawn is more like a strong hit of cheap fish. I tried to like them, but ended up throwing the tube away unfinished - virtually unheard of for me!
...First-time spotter "AuntyBigBug" completes the set of flavours with the one we inexplicably missed out last time - while, in other crispy creativity, "andy" merely adds to the mystery surrounding Mini Pringles, muttering: I work for the Edison group in corby - the reason for amount of waste at the start was due to finding their feet and bringing the public a fantastic new product. And "New Improved" Cheesy Cheese Pringles were just one of the UK crisp launches that "Magnetic Ham Sandwich" claims to have caught wind of, including:
Smugglers Smoky Bacon and Caribbean Prawn Cocktail Hula Hoops; 2 "Corn Chips" varieties of Walkers Sensations;
the return of
Creme Fraiche, Lemon and Coriander Kettle Chips, plus their (US import of?) Cheddar Beer.

Comment: This stuff looks high-class but the taste is very bland. In fact, I could hardly remember how it tastes like. But honestly the Pringles I used to know taste better. I guess the most special thing about the new product is it's more expensive.

Comment: I agree - they were very bland and no better than the regular flavour Pringles.

Comment: My favourite out of the 4 Pringle Gourmet flavours was the Pepper ones. But then again I can get a tube of the Hint of Pepper Pringle Dippas for less and get more in it.
I liked the new Cheesy Cheese Pringles. I always liked the Cheese-Umz flavour and missed them when they went.
Also tried the Walkers Sensations corn chips. They were pretty tasty, but also a little unique in that they have poppy seeds in the chips.

Comment: Tried the Tiger Prawn ones along with the Thai Sweet Chilli and Sea Salt ones, our local Asda had run out of the Steak ones. The Sea Salt are the best of the bunch, although they do have a pistachio taste to them. Thai Chilli have a nice tang to them but the Tiger Prawn are just nasty. Very odd taste to them, we had a couple of them but couldn't eat any more. Even our son, who is a human hoover of food, turned his nose up at them. I await the Steak flavour with great interest.

Comment: Interesting to note is that since the original launch back in May the spelling on the side of the Steak cans has changed from Caramelized to the more conventional Caramelised. Confusingly the 'z' spelling is still used on the lids of the cans though.

Comment: I'm not suprised that all the crisp manufacturers are queueing up to get on Pretentious Potato Crisps bandwagon. They can double the value of a packet of cheese n onion simply by calling them 'Vintage Epoisses des Bourgogne Cheese and Organic Sauteed Red Onion flavour. What's even more ridiculous is that people fall for it! Heheh

Comment: Please can someone tell me about some corn chips I had the other day with poppy seeds in them - I have hunted high and low and can't find them anywhere -- anyone have any idea what they might be please.
