Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Nestle Kit Kat Fine Dark Confirmed sighting: Nestle Kit Kat Fine Dark
Posted: 09:31 Sat 23-Sep-2006. Price: 37-50p. Location: Sainsbury's, Macclesfield; New York Deli, Manchester. Nutritional unusualness: 52% Cocoa Solids printed on the side (and 67.8% plain chocolate in total according to the small print), 226 cals per bar (that's 11% of an adult's WDA apparently).
"Dave's KitKat Wrapper" reports: This was mentioned as an eBay sighting in the comments relating to KitKat Dark, but I saw one in my local Sainsbury's today in a tempting box by the checkout so I bought one. Initial impressions are promising with a distinct smell of dark chocolate, and indeed it does taste like a KitKat made with Terryesque dark chocolate. Overall it's better than the KitKat Dark I once tried though I still personally prefer the original milk chocolate and orange varieties.

...Yeah, I was also a bit puzzled as to how new this is - Independent Retail News reckons this is its debut in the "Four Finger" format ("until now it has only been available in a two finger multi-pack variant in the grocery trade"), which additionally makes me wonder who's behind that eBay auction, because "KitKat 4F Fine Dark" sounds more like an industry description that I've never heard ordinary "civilians" use... Anyway, "Gemma" shared some of "Dave's KitKat Wrapper's" disappointment, commenting just hours later: It's nice but really rich and I don't think I'll be buying it again. It's just not as satisfying as the original for dunking in a cup of tea.

Comment: Tried the Cadburys Melt range today, bit overpriced for what it is. Can't see It lasting long.

Comment: not seen these yet but will keep an eye out for them. did have a Cadburys dark flake yesterday. Only about 44% cocoa, so not really dark enough in my book. being dark chocolate though it is far more brittle so it makes one hell of a mess when you eat it.

Comment: These are the best... I love Kit Kits, full stop... not entirely enamored of the chunky format. This is the original version, with a truly luscious dark chocolate. I will be v. sad if it becomes limited. 97218 1 76

Comment: I just discovered them, and they existed since 2006, damn I missed something. I Love Dark Chocolate, it fits perfectly to Kit Kat, MIAM MIAM
