Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Pringles Ploughman's Cheese And Tomato Flavour Confirmed sighting: Pringles Ploughman's Cheese And Tomato Flavour
Posted: 11:16 Tue 07-Nov-2006. Price: 1.38 each (BOGOF at the moment though). Location: Morrisons, Plymouth. Nutritional unusualness: 34g fat per 100g of crisps.
"Magnetic Ham Sandwich" reports: Not long goes by without another new Pringles flavour to sample. This one is a little different though, as it's seemingly exclusive to Morrisons supermarkets, even carrying their logo on the packs. Hot on the heels of Cheesy Cheese flavour, and easy to spot in their distinctive pink-and-white Gingham-checked tubes we have Ploughman's Cheese And Tomato flavour. Now I always thought Ploughmen liked a bit of pickle with their cheese and tomato platters, but apparently not. Maybe some Ploughmen could set me straight on that point. You can clearly taste both the cheese and a nice full tomato flavour in these crisps though - both flavours Mr Pringle seems to have mastered. It's very similar to the old Pizza flavour Pringles used to produce around 1999 - 2000 (looks like they've just replaced the Fennel with Onion by comparing the ingredients), and a massive improvement on the yukky Prawn and Garlic flavour in the Gourmet Pringles range.

Comment: Pringles are ridiculous and the Gourmet ones are pointless. I'm happier with McCoys Specials or Kettle Chips.

Comment: Actually, since Pringles recent revamp of the product, i think they've improved somewhat, better shape and texture and better flavour, these Ploughmans ones are just the old Tomato and Mozzarella flavour repackaged.. you know...Ploughmans been less intimidating and all

Comment: There were several special Pringles tubes out for Halloween recently with spooky graphics like witches and ghosts on the tubes and altered flavour names. I saw Oooriginal!, Scary Cheese! and Sour Scream & Ooohnion! in Tescos and also Chilling Chilli in Asda. There may have been others too. All of the tubes were longer than usual, with 25% extra crisps in.

Comment: Mr Pringle has now gone all Christmassy. There are tubes decorated with snow and little Christmas pictures in Asda. I've had the special Merry Mexican flavour, and Smokey Bacon so far.

Comment: Pringles 'Merry Mexican' is such a halfwitted name, Hows about you reinstate the original Mexican flavour and actually show some innovation at christmas with a relevant flavour like...Christmas dinner flavour pringles, just can't get anything remotely right can you P&G?

Comment: Turns out those two mentioned above were the only special Christmas tubes I spotted this year. But if you're after a bargain, since Christmas Home Bargains stores have had all the special Halloween tubes in stock for just 69p each. Don't forget they're all 25% extra free too [except the Haunted Jalepeno for some reason].

Comment: There's another special version of Hot & Spicy flavour on the shelves of Asda right now. Just in time for Valentines Day, it's been rebranded as Red Hot Lover flavour and has graphics of love hearts across the top and bottom and 'share the love' written at the top. What could be a more romantic gift for your loved one than a tube of Pringles ??

Comment: In Somerfields on Saturday, I spotted some different Pringles tubes. This time they have come up with XXL tubes - in 4 different flavours. There's Original, Salt & Vinegar, Sour Cream & Onion, and Texas BBQ Sauce from what I saw. They are all 25% bigger than a standard tube - 213g instead of 170g - and easy to detect as they have a bright yellow band across the top with 'Buy 1 Get 1 FREE' actually printed on the tube, and in a first for Pringles the tubes have opaque yellow lids. Somerfields had them at £1.99 for two.

Comment: Tomato & Mozzarella flavour Pringles have resurfaced [for about the 4th time - they must be really desperate for this flavour to catch on]. They're in pinky red tubes but I've only seen them in Co-op stores so far.
