Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Kopparberg X-Strong Raspberry Blackcurrants Cider Confirmed sighting: Kopparberg X-Strong Raspberry Blackcurrants Cider
Posted: 21:39 Thu 09-Nov-2006. Price: 2.19/ 500ml. Location: Newsagent near London Finchley Road tube. Sub-flavours: Apple; Pear. Nutritional unusualness: 7.0% vol alcohol .
Snackspot reports: Again, one for readers above legal drinking age, despite the overpowering taste of Blackcurrant Chewits. The Apple and Pear varieties are somewhat more conventional, and hence seem to have made it into some Weatherspoons pubs and branches of Sainsbury's - but the company website claims they also make cider from cranberries, raspberries, and a "Super Cider ICE Bluberry/ Lime" (once you've used the link at the bottom to translate it from the original Swedish).

...While in other colourful cocktails: there's only 5.5% alcohol (plus the sweet strawberry-ish taste of "hibiscus") in Sabai Wine Spritzer (Sainsbury's, 4.99/ 4-pack of 275ml bottles); "some UK pubs" will become the testing ground for Diageo's Guinness Red during "the next few months"; and "rachael merrall" toasted the apple (and lime?) Smirnoff Signatures as "Lovely vodka cocktails. I'm not a lover of vodka but these cocktails on ice on a hot summer's day are definitely a winner", after purchasing them for 8 Euros in Limoges, France.

Comment: Can get as much of the kopparberg as you want in most Northern Ireland off sales. It is also making it's way into pubs. I believe that Sainsbury's which sell's the products in NI are planning to roll it out to the rest of the UK. Rocket fuel in a bottle. 99265

Comment: Is Kopparberg actually cider? To me it tastes like foul white cider with added flavouring, ugh! Give me some proper vintage English or Normandy cider any day.
