Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Guinness Wholegrain Bread Confirmed sighting: Guinness Wholegrain Bread
Posted: 20:43 Thu 11-Jan-2007. Price: 1.50. Location: Sainsbury's Forestside, Belfast. Nutritional unusualness: Malty taste breads without the alkyhols.
"Kaptain Korolev" reports: Ah thinks the Kaptain, the moanses you told the Snacking Spot of the lack of sightings in the homeland has instead yielded a new reward for the Kaptain. He brings you the Guinness Wholegrain Bread, brew baked in the Northern Ireland by Irwin's bakery. Sampling the bread the Kaptain was rewarded with delicious malty whole wheat tasting trembles. The alkyhols sacrificed in the heats of the oven flames, but the malty beer stenches remaining. The Kaptain wonders if the komarades on foreign shores will enjoy its tastes, he hopes so, he hopes so very much.

...Cheers "Kaptain" - news is that "Supplies [...] have already been ordered by shops and supermarkets across Britain and Ireland including Tesco", and I hope it's as weirdly appealing as the left-overnight-in-a-pub aroma of the old Kettle Chips Mature Cheddar with Adnams Broadside Beer. In more alcoholic adulterations, you can now get frothing widget Kenco-Cappio-style cans of cold coffee laced with "a kiss of Red Square vodka" (Tesco, 4.49 for 3x200ml cans), and I'm not sure if Gu's rum, amaretto and B52 flavoured Boozy Party Puds were a just Christmas thing, as they don't appear in their New Year lineup of Hot Chocolate Fondu, Saucy Hot Chocolate Sauce and Hot Choc Lava Tarts.

Comment: Saw this scary looking loaf in my local Tesco (Llantrisant, South Wales) yesterday. Unfortunately, I'm on a diet, so look is all I could do.

Comment: Awww It's got only 253calories per 1/4 of the loaf (more than plenty) and it's only 3.5g of fat.

Just had my first taste, and it's really really moreish. Tastes like soda/wheaten bread (irish) but with the moistness and malty flavour of guinness added in. Very tasty!

Comment: After weeks of looking I finally found this in Waitrose. All reduced to 75p! Doesn't look like it's very popular. Nice tho.

Comment: I love Irish Wheaten and love love love this one. It's really a piece of genius, seriously. Plus, it's wholewheat and yeast-free. Love it, love it, love it.
