Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Hula Hoops Space Pack Confirmed sighting: Hula Hoops Space Pack
Posted: 11:32 Sun 04-Feb-2007. Price: 1.05 for 7 multipack. Location: Morrisons, Plymouth. Sub-flavours: Kosmic Ketchup, Moon Cheese. Nutritional unusualness: 128 calories per 25g bag.
"Magnetic Ham Sandwich" reports: Space - the final frontier. After last year's Cowboy and Pirate themed Hula Hoops multipacks, now we have their latest effort boldly going where not many other snacks have gone before. Just like Baker Street on Radio 2, you're never too far from a themed Hula Hoops multipack. This time you get 3 bags of a very strong-tasting Kosmic Ketchup flavour (even the packets depict flaming tomatoes raining down on Earth like meteorites, giving you a clue how strong the taste is), and 4 bags of the much tamer Moon Cheese flavour. As ever, you can't really go wrong with Hula Hoops, so this is another winner.

...another cracking sighting from "MHS", though elsewhere "Grace" overlooks the ongoing Pringles Presents controversy to track down the new flavours of Mini Pringles (99p, Wilkinson, Sheffield), claiming: They come in a 10 pack with Cheese and Onion, Texas BBQ Sauce and Orginal flavour. The Cheese and Onion are especially nice! Both new variants are very tasty, but they still have the annoying tear opening that means they all fall out as you rip the pack open. Just hope they make the cheese flavour available in mini form soon!

Comment: On the subject of new flavours of Pringles, their Light Aromas range [those with the purple top and bottoms of the tubes] now includes Mediterranean Style Salsa with a touch of Olive Oil. Yet another in the very long list of tomato or cheese based Pringles flavours, but a new one nonetheless. Asda had them in stock a couple of weeks ago.

And as for the themed multipacks of Hula Hoops [we've had Cowboy, Pirates and now Space in the last year if I recall correctly] it seems nowadays KP can come up with any old idea for a multipack and throw in any two random flavours. How long before we see a Dinosaur multipack for instance, contaning Brontosaurus Bacon and T Rex Tomato? Or what about a Doctor Who multipack featuring Pickled Onion Daleks and Tangy Tardis?

Comment: In other SPACE news...............- ...

Mars Planets comprise three chocolate balls crispy, chewy caramel and soft nougat all covered in Mars chocolate and available in a 37g impulse pack which retails at 41p. Each ball can be enjoyed on its own or eaten together to create different taste sensations says trade relations manager Andrea Taylor. Mars Planets will be going into the trade from the end of March with a £3m TV advertising campaign due to break on April 23 and run for four weeks. Another such burst is planned for July 16.

Comment: Purchased a maxi pack of Hula Hoops Space and found both flavours to be quite bland :Ketchup ones were not at all strong as earlier described and the Cheese was certainly not very cheesy at all.....perhaps I had a naff batch? I found the consistency of each 'hoop' to be thinner than regular bags and them being a multi pack the minuscule bags were empty far too quick...needless to say i wont be buying them again! dull dull dull!

Comment: Well I was guessing earlier in this thread as to the theme of the next limited edition Hula Hoops multipack after Cowboys, Pirates and Space. Turns out it was Wizards - just in time for the next Harry Potter movie. I bought some in Morrisons last month. You get 3 bags of Hocus Pocus Ham and 4 bags of Sorcerers Roast Chicken. Neither flavour is especially magical, as Ham and Chicken both regularily crop up as regular Hula Hoop flavours. It seems as if Hula Hoops are running low on new ideas.
