Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Diet Coke with Citrus Zest Confirmed sighting: Diet Coke with Citrus Zest
Posted: 20:44 Fri 23-Feb-2007. Price: £1.46, 2 for £2.30. Location: Morrisons, Warrington.
"paul" makes good on his previous promises with this CSI-enhancement-worthy photograph, plus the news that he: "Got this from the Morrisons that I work at this morning. It's got a nicer taste than either the lemon and lime variants."

...Still, in other fruity fluids: I defy anyone to be able to tell the difference between "Naturally brewed with citrus" Carlsberg Edge (Sainsbury's, £3.49 for 4 x 275ml bottles) and the similarly not-very-citrus-y Foster's Twist. Repeat offenders The Feel Good Drinks Co are back with a range of "100% Gorgeous" squeezed juices (Tesco, £2.59/ litre), in flavours roughly corresponding to Raspberry, Orange or Apple - the Apple one, for instance, also contains "1 Golden kiwi + 1/3 Lime", entitling it to make the meaningless claim that it's a "Dextoxer's Dream". Oddest of all, however, are the determinedly first-person I Am Fresh juices - "I Am 100% Your Healthy Happy Friend" being the most defensive thing I've read on a bottle since "All of these sugars are found naturally in the fruit" on Sainsbury's Apple Juice with lemongrass last summer.

Comment: i am so mad about this citrus zest rubbish, it's just the lemon one repackaged! hello coca cola corp, did i not just spend a fortune on diet coke with lime for the last six months? grr.

Comment: The I Am Fresh juices also claim to be 100% virgin.

Comment: I bought two two-litre bottles in Tesco. Perhaps "Diet Coke with I-Can't-Believe-It's-Not-Pepsi-Max-Twist" would be a better name. Very disappointing. More flavours of Coke Zero rather then Diet Coke next time please Coke...

Comment: sorry, should have spotted this earlier - according to Coke UK, it's only a "limited edition", so are they going back to lemon and/or lime afterwards..?

"A limited edition, ’Diet Coke’ Citrus Zest, fusing the two best performing citrus flavours - lemon and lime – will appear on key packs from February. CCE will also be announcing a ‘with food’ programme for the brand, as well as innovative workplace activation later in the year"

Comment: At the end of the day coke is overpriced for what it is.

Comment: diet coke with lime/lemon were never labelled limited editions (like coke with lime was) but i am not sure i've seen 'limited edition' on the citrus zest packaging... i'd be surprised if they were bringing back lime later after going to all the effort of getting stores to delete it. i hope i am wrong.

Comment: On the pack it says 'New Edition' like it did when Diet Cherry Coke was launched. As Sainsburys are selling 6 packs of Lime for half price I doubt it will be coming back although I prefer it to the new Citrus or is that Lemon with a new name version

Comment: I cant say I have ever seen this one but if I am honest it sounds disgusting! Why cant they just leave coke alone, it tastes great as it is ;-)

Comment: It's called capitalism, Ted. They're not in business to provide a public service; they have their mad scientists working nght and day to create new ways to part us from our jingly cash. And I for one fall for it every time.

Comment: Its soooo sad that Diet Coke with Lime is going. Diet Coke Citrus Zest is nasty. Never did like Diet Coke with Lemon, but Diet Coke with Lime was the best ever. Start a petition. Keep it going. Keep Diet Coke with Lime, and Diet Coke Vanilla. Wil Miss this aswell.

Comment: Hi Chubworth, I have to agree, I am waiting for the release of pickled onion, beef and melted cheese flavour coke. The ad would have to run something like... Wasting time chewing snacks in between drinking? Not any more, now you can munch, gulp and go!... OK, so I dont have a job in advertising, but I know that there is bound to be another crazy taste on the horizon. P.S, anyone from Coke watching, I love cashew nuts, maybe cashewla cola.. Hmmmmm
Posted: 16:12 Tue 20-Mar-2007 by "£1.59!!!!???" # permalink comment
Comment: Coca cola costs and diet coca cola costs are ridicilous. Youngsters all over the country paying £1.59 per bottle for something which is painfully addictive and unhealthy to the extreme
Posted: 18:49 Thu 22-Mar-2007 by "TED" # permalink comment
Comment: Your right, £1.59 is expensive.... but it knocks the socks of rola-cola anyday. ;)

Comment: Another waste of time. Tastes too much like diet coke with lime which was nasty. Bring back the lemon & vanilla ones!

Comment: Does anyone know if there is going to be a Diet Coke with Orange as I know there is due to be a limited edition of Coke with Orange this summer.
Posted: 23:12 Fri 06-Apr-2007 by "Matt" # permalink comment
Comment: Hi, Yes 100% gonna be coke with orange. Its going to be released around July, limited edition only.

Comment: But is there going to be a DIET one?
Posted: 01:13 Sun 08-Apr-2007 by "Matt" # permalink comment
Comment: No diet version planned. This orange coke will be released in a similar way to the coke with lemon of summer 2005 and the lime coke of summer 2006. Click here to take a look at the official Coca Cola info http://www.cokecce.co.uk/cce/news_art.jsp?aid=448

Comment: Diet Coke with Cherry "New Edition" which has just started to appear seems to be another spectacular own goal by Coca Cola. The pleasant taste of old has been replaced by a mouthful of metallic chemicals. So it goes...
