Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: KP Big Nuts Confirmed sighting: KP Big Nuts
Posted: 18:50 Tue 03-Apr-2007. Price: 98p. Location: Tesco Metro , Edinburgh Nicholson Street. Sub-flavours: Hickory Smoked BBQ, Cheddar and Onion, Red Hot Chilli, Char Grilled Steak. Nutritional unusualness: About 0.2g "sodium" per bag.
"Phill" reports: My girlfriend should really be credited with this one, as she found them whilst picking up some puppy food. Not tried them yet, as I'm saving them for the weekend, but the flavours sound good enough.

...And, as is so often the case, I never heard from "Phill" - or his girlfriend - again. Fortunately, I've tried all four in the meantime, and they're not bad at all - strongly flavoured, but without the abrasive texture of most "Honey Roasted" varieties. In other unappetising-sounding savouries, North London seems to be full of supermarkets selling Bullox Biltong (1.21/ 25g, Budgens), while Heinz are launching Ketchup With a Twist (of Chilli, Garlic or Sweet Onion), no doubt ideal for daubing on either their Italian or Smokey BBQ Mean Beanz, or the all-new Big Eat instant snack meals for teenagers (350g for around 1.39).

Comment: Hopefully KP will take the oppertunity to advertise them with a Sir Mix-a-Lot cover.

Comment: Sorry I never followed up my previous comment as I've not tried them all yet.

I found the Cheddar and Onions flavour a bit repulsive at first, but they soon won me over, and I'd happily buy them again.

The Hickory Smoked ones tasted OK, but I quickly grew boredof the lavour.

I found the smaller bags of the Chilli ones in several shops, and really love those ones. Just wish I could find them in the big bags, as I'd happily eat them as a usual snack.

Still not tried the Steak flavour ones as I'm on a bit of a Jerky kick now.

Comment: I have the sampled char grilled steak flavour nuts and experienced tasting the flavour on my fingers instead of complimenting the actual nuts. They were 'ok' but nothing special.

Comment: The Cheese & Onion Big Nuts are really good...why no Salt and Vinegar Flavour??? Too conventional?

Comment: I recently bought a packet of Bullox and was very surprised at the price which equated to £21.95 a pound. I thought it must be something special, however on tasting it it seemed like eating bits of leather and I came to the conclusion that it was correctly named. I think it is in fact a great marketting ploy, and a load of BULLOX!!
