Posted: 13:12 Thu 19-Apr-2007. Price: 1 Euro. Location: Galerie Lafayette, Paris.
"Chubworth" reports: This needed to be bought - the flavour of that most disappointing of seventies sweets: Parma Violets, with the creaminess of full fat yogurt. It was a grey-lilac in colour and almost (but not quite) impossible to finish a 150g tub because it was, on the whole, by and large, bloody horrible.

...Cheers "Chubworth" - it might just be me, but I don't think I've met anyone who actually enjoys this flavour, whether in the form of Australia's Lifesavers Musk or Canada's Wonka Thrills. In somewhat less-perturbing dairy produce: Masterfoods are adding a Maltesers Super Frothy drink to an ever-growing range that also includes Galaxy ThickShake; Frijj's Limited Edition Toffee Caramel seems very reminiscent of 2003's Mount Caramel; while older drinkers may enjoy Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur with 4 Milk Chocolate Cups, continuing the promising containers you can eat trend also followed by the perhaps unfortunately-named Butt Foods Bread Bowls.

Comment: No wonder no-one's commented yet... It tastes absolutely awful! It's sickly and has a horrible texture.

Comment: Can't deny that...I had to buy a double packet to try this (yes, I did suspect that it would be manky but I am a proud pioneer for Snackspot) but only ate the one and left the other one for the poor buggers renting our holiday flat after us. If they had any sense, they'd have hoiked it out into the street with a voluble Gallic cuss.

Comment: My friend tried the Maltesers Super Frothy drink and said it was 'the biggest waste of 80p ever'. Also that it had unpleasant bits in, but she might not have shaken it for long enough. Also, Parma Violets are my favourite sweet ever. And no, I don't think they taste like soap.

Comment: Yeah... But we're discussing Mamie Nova Gourmand Saveur Violette (Violet- flavoured yogurt) not Maltesers Super Frothy Drink! LET'S GET BOT!

Comment: Actually I like parma violets and still eat them on a fairly regular basis, although they do, to be fair, taste like soap. There's something about my childhood about them though..... I'm currently looking for Fruitella Espresso hard sweets. Anyone? I lived on them a couple of years ago while I was pregnant, but I can no longer find them. Please help me to do so.

Comment: Just got back from Paris and have to say this is amazingly delicious! I couldn't get enough of it. All other violet-flavored sweets make me sick, but this one was marvelous.
