Confirmed sighting: KFC Wrapstar
Posted: 22:57 Thu 21-Jun-2007. Price: £2.99 by itself, or "meal it" for £3.99. Location: KFC, London's Leicester Square. Nutritional unusualness: No info available.
Snackspot
reports: I'm not sure I could detect all 8 distinct ingredients ("Two crispy strips, slice of cheese, crunchy tostada, pepper mayo, mild tomato salsa, crisp lettuce, diced tomato, warm flour tortilla"), but this delivered in 2 important areas - a) it didn't take long to make (in fact, they probably had a load all ready to go for lunchtime), and b) it didn't fall apart while I was trying to eat it. As such, it instantly jumps to number 3 in my personal "wrap" chart, ahead of the efforts of London and Croydon's Doughmasters, but just behind Pret A Manger's Mama Marguerita and the Wrap It Up place
across the road from Liverpool Street station.
...In other meaty mouthfuls, McDonald's appear to be simultaneously battling Subway (with their £1.99 Deli of The Day deal) *and* KFC, with the arrival of their Chicken Fajita wrap, as well as the resurrected Mexican Quarter Pounder from summer 2003. And Ginsters are possibly misrepresenting a largely non-cow-eating subcontinent with their Indian Style Spicy Beef Pasty (introductory price £1), part of a "Pasties Of The World" range that includes Mexican Spicy Chicken and a rather tasty Italian Meat Feast.

Comment: Looks like KFC ripping off Taco Bell's Crunchwrap Supreme..

Comment: Not really ripping off, as Yum! Brands own both KFC and Taco Bell. Hopefully this is the start of their expansion of Taco Bell into the UK!

Comment: Is it just me, or was the Leicester Square Macdonalds the last one to stop stocking root beer? I remember getting it there way after it disappeared from everywhere else.
I also remember the embarrassing day I went in and was told - with laughter - that Macdonalds hadn't stocked root beer in years, ane left wondering if I'd dreamt it all.

Comment: it was boring unfortunately, couldn't taste all the elements, the tortilla was too pancakey... it does stay wrapped neatly though, if that matters to you. i will stick with my zinger tower as my kfc food of choice.

Comment: I have always been a fully loaded zinger tower burger meal man, with three hot wings on the side, but after tasting this, I think it has taken the place of the hot wings. I really love it, and think the combination of ingredients is luuuuuuurvely! Also, tastes very dis-similar to the taco wrap, alot nicer in my opinion

Comment: I love my KFC but it can be a bit expensive for small gimmicky foods. I refuse to buy one until I have seen the size... and nobody ever seems to be buying them around me for me to nosy! Can anyone help?

Comment: I haven't seen them either Janet but I saw an ad for them yesterday and was thinking the same as you - Don't know what stone I was under to not hear about it until now!
These things always look nice but I never end up pleased I bought them so maybe I shouldn't bother - but anyone that can comment on value for money would be great!!!

Comment: KFC uses EXTREME inhumane ways to kil the CHICKS
when they're 2 DAYS OLD their beaks are pressed against a machine to have tehy'r beaks cut off- so they cant have a pecking order..
nd do you realli think that teh chicken is lyk natural..they are PACKED with tablets, shoved dwn their throats..their legs end up breaking so they cant move.
If you live in Doncaster..yes it was me you saw at KFC givin leaflets to the people..

Comment: My my, what a time it's been since I came here thought I would check back and saw the thing I commented on still going strong!
Does sound worth a go for £4 Leanne, I do wish they would update their website so I could see that price for myself I am very rarely in town nowadays.
Melanie, I appreciate your concern but those animals were born to be made into food and this is a site about food once its served to us not on the way to us.
I'm sure half the crap on this site has unfairly traded ingredients that let human beings be overworked while their families starve but that won't stop me and my family sitting under the stairs eating our Cadbury's Caramel

Comment: As a KFC member of staff, I always found these a pain to make... just glad we only did them for a short while!
Quick overview of how they were made:
1 - take a tortilla wrap
2 - add some pepper mayo, lettuce and tomato in the middle
3 - place the tostado (mini poppadom?) on top
4 - add two crispy strips and remaining ingredients
5 - the folding - bottom half up, top half down, then the sides in so you have a hexagon
6 - toast for 10 seconds to help seal the tortilla
Problem I always had with it was that I overfilled it so it wouldn't close properly! :-(
