Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: KP Multigrain Hula Hoops Confirmed sighting: KP Multigrain Hula Hoops
Posted: 12:44 Thu 28-Jun-2007. Price: 89p for 6 multipack. Location: Morrisons, Plymouth. Nutritional unusualness: Made with 100% sunflower oil, 55% less saturated fat than 2006, now a "source of fibre".
"Magnetic Ham Sandwich" reports: What could Hula Hoops possibly come up with that was more original than last month's Wizard Multipack of Hocus Pocus Ham and Sorcerers Roast Chicken? Why not take the potato out of the potato rings and make the hoops from a blend of Maize, Rice and a bit of Wheat instead? Now these new Hula Hoops look and taste like some kind of breakfast cereal, with the actual flavour on the hoop being rapidly overpowered by the cereal taste. I've had 5 flavours so far in 2 different multipacks - 2 each of Cheese and Onion, Pickled Onion, Prawn Cocktail in one, and 2 each of Cheese and Onion, Salt and Vinegar, Sweet BBQ in the other. The multipack bags have shrunk in size too - from 25g to 23g (I guess they hoped we wouldn't notice). As you'd expect with multigrain instead of potato Hula Hoops, the fat content has gone down and the fibre content has gone up per packet, but apart from that I can't find much reason to recommend them, unless you need more roughage in your diet that is.

...Also sidestepping the pommes de terre this summer are the bizarre-sounding Pringles Rice Infusions (1.38/ 160g, in Sour Cream and Onion, Salt and Vinegar, Cheese and Onion, or Sweet BBQ Spare Rib, from July). Crisp traditionalists Seabrooks, however, are branching out into a Hot and Spicy range (in Chilli Jalapeno and Habanero, Mustard Hot English, Wasabi Japanese Horseradish, or Oriental Peking Ribs), hotly pursued by a relaunched Nobby's Nuts line-up, now including Cashews with Indian spice, Cashews with sweet chilli, Almonds with lime 'n' chilli, or Almonds with Japanese wasabi and soy.

Comment: Well you lot seem like sad losers with a junky food life. Everyone on here needs a life FAST! Especially that 'Electric Apple' dude! I know him and although he seems wild and funny and a little nasty to spammers (like me!) inside, HE'S A REAL BLOATED GASBAG WAITING TO EXPLODE. And he's not even remotely fat...

Comment: I suppose these new Hula Hoops are a little like Wheat Crunchies but in a different shape. They don't taste as good as Wheat Crunchies though.

Comment: Whereas I feel that the flavours are pretty weak on these new Hula Hoops, the overall experience when eating them is pretty good.

I got sent these earlier in the year to try them out and give some feedback to Seabrooks and my favourites were the Wasabi flavour - lovely crisps.

Comment: Yeah, they dont look appetising but they taste quite good - I overdosed on the salt and vinegar though!

I wish they would do them in ready salted as sometimes the flavours are a bit potent - the cheese and onion especially - talk about repeat!!!
