Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Wrigley's Extra Fusion Confirmed sighting: Wrigley's Extra Fusion
Posted: 21:20 Tue 24-Jul-2007. Price: 49p. Location: Tesco, Bedford. Sub-flavours: Spearmint with a twist of Melon; Peppermint with a twist of Berry. Nutritional unusualness: More sweeteners than you can shake a stick at.
"CrunchinJelly" reports: Wrigley's are really pumping out the Extra-branded, fruit-flavoured gums now. Hot on the heels of Strawberry and Watermelon tubs, comes this, Extra Fusion. Spotted this (with no fanfare, it seems) in my local Tesco on the weekly shop, at just 49p a pop, which contains 9 large pellets in Orbit Professional-style packaging. What sets Extra Fusion apart is that it has both mint AND fruit flavours. I got the Spearmint and Watermelon variety - the Watermelon taste is apparent after the first chew, and reminds me of Jolly Ranchers of olde. Quite pleasant, but the taste doesn't last and is soon over-powered by the standard Extra spearmint flavour. Not the sort of thing I could chew on a regular basis, and no doubt only really here to rival Trident's fruity gums. I'll stick with Extra Ice.

...A top-notch sighting here from first-time spotter "CrunchinJelly" - while, in other potential smoking substitutes: Chupa Chups have launched "cigarette-style flip-top boxes" containing six sugar-free Relax fruity mini lollipops (with extracts of lemon balm and lime blossom, 99p), and I'm definitely becoming more of a "heavy gum user" since paying 2.29 for a 40-piece Trident Splash Gum Ball, which zanily includes "a slap with a fruity shovel" at the end of its similarly industrial-sounding ingredients.

Comment: i found the watermelon and spearmint to be tolerable, but the berry and peppermint one is definitely the wrong side of medicinal gross. they are both really heavy on the mint for some reason. too agressive, why can't the mint and fruit just be peers and friends?

Comment: Does anyone know the name of the song they're using for the Extra Fusion TV ad? It's the theme tune for Transmission with T-Mobile too. It's driving me crazy not being able to get the track.
