Confirmed sighting: Werther's Original Chocolate Caramels
Posted: 21:07 Thu 08-Nov-2007. Price: 95p. Location: Tesco, Sheffield. Nutritional unusualness: Milk Chocolates filled with soft caramel (45%).
"charl" reports: Few things make a snackspotter's heart skip a beat like trans-fats, but the words 'test line' clearly visible on a product description must be one of those things. These taste exactly like Galaxy Caramel, but arrive in individually wrapped portions. They seem quite fragile, with smushed incidences currently running at about 1 in 5 sweets. The caramel is very soft and sticky which makes a squished sweet a sadly wasted opportunity. Otherwise very nice, but not good for keeping in a warm car or trouser pocket as the original Werther's were designed for.
...Cheers "charl" - in other chocolatey chews, "zeddy" has at last located the elusive Black Magic Mellow Dark Chocolate with Raisins and Almonds bar (£1.09, Morrisons, Hamilton, Scotland, also available in Whole Almonds, or plain), noting: "Now this I like. Nice dark rich chocolate with raisins and almonds (not those hazelnuts, pteuch!) Cocoa butter as well. Not a bit of vegetable fat in sight." - though he also praises Sainsbury's own-brand "Taste the Difference" Creamy Filled Coconut Bar (99p, Hamilton, Scotland, 557kcal per 100g), seen in "The chocolate aisles on my weekly shop. Milk chocolate and creamy coconut with coconut flakes too. Wonderfully soft and gooey, it states. Looking forward to finding the other limited editions in the range."

Comment: Has anyone seen these Werther's in the wider world? I'd really like to give them a try.
