Confirmed sighting: Nobby's Nuts Japanese Wasabi and Soy Almonds
Posted: 22:30 Thu 03-Jan-2008. Location: Asda, Craigpark, Edinburgh. Nutritional unusualness: 585kcal, protein 19g, carb 6g, fat 54g sat 4.5g, fibre 14g, sodium .3g per 100g. I haven't spotted any bargains yet on Planters' Vermont Gold range (in Maple Roasted Mixed Nuts, Honey Roasted Mixed Nuts, or Winter Spiced Roasted Mixed Nuts and Fruits, upwards of £2.29/ 200g), but KP Santa's Big Nuts are down to about 71p/ 450g in my local Sainsbury's, who also have most of this Summer's new Nobby's flavours for just 99p/ bag. And I'm not usually an almond fan, but I agree with "Steve Page" about the Wasabi and Soy variety as he reports: "Very nice, not too spicy with the Wasabi, should be suitable for most people."
...In other nutty reductions: today at Sainsbury's Finchley Road I also picked up a 5-piece mini Cadbury Selection Box for 24p (which is surely worth it for the full-size Crunchie bar alone), plus their odd-but-edible Milk chocolates with Christmas pudding flavoured filling (37p/ box of 5). Fans of containers you can eat should at least consider sampling the somewhat-disappointing Chokolit Mint Box (apparently invented by a dyslexic 15-year-old)
at 62p, ie about 25% of what they were trying to charge for it before Christmas - and, although it was "Reduced to £2", I appear to have paid only a quid for this Carlsberg Freezable Beer Mug, which almost makes up for all the times Sainsbury's has charged me full whack for "3 for the price of 4" offers which they haven't got round to updating on their shelf prices or something.
