Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Bassetts Jelly Babies Wobbly Lollies Confirmed sighting: Bassetts Jelly Babies Wobbly Lollies
Posted: 20:17 Tue 08-Apr-2008. Price: 1.99. Location: Sainsbury's Nantwich, Cheshire. Sub-flavours: Strawberry, lime, blackcurrant, orange. Nutritional unusualness: 65 calories per lolly.
"DazDude" reports: As I am rather partial to the odd Jelly Baby I thought I would give these a go. The box which claims contains "8 assorted lollies" in 4 flavours ended up in typical Jelly Babies fashion containing at least 4 green (lime) ones, along with a couple of strawberries and oranges. Most other boxes should contain at least a blackcurrant flavoured variant.

A noticeable thing that sets these apart from other frozen lollies is they actually wobble, so don't be alarmed if it looks like they are about to fall off their sticks! Flavour-wise they are actually a lot more fruitier than their smaller sugary cousins but with more than 25% real fruit juice a lolly you certainly can't complain as they are certainly quite tasty.

...I think "DazDude" might be a first-time spotter (rather than the return of this guy) - I'll just mention that I've recently tried (both versions of) Thornton's Ice Cream sticks (1.40 each in Costcutter Kentish Town), but you should soon also be able to cool down with the likes of Walls' Footballissimo and Cornetto Frutti Disc (65p and 1.10, respectively), Del Monte 100% Juice lollies (1.99 for 3), Mars Galaxy Minis (2.99/ box), plus the Starburst Smoothie lolly (1.00), or Galaxy Vanilla and Chocolate Temptation cone (1.25).

Comment: Those Jelly Baby lollies are on offer for 99p in Tesco at the moment.

Also probably been mentioned, but there are 2 other new B&J flavours out, but it's sorbet rather than ice cream, which is a bit crap really. 'Jamaican Me Crazy' and Mango Sorbet Swirl. Given that it is now nearly 4 quid for a tub, I'm buggered if I'm paying that for something pretending to be healthy.

Just buy a bloody mango.

Comment: I'm with you grotbag. I tend to hover around the freezer aisle waiting/hoping that someone will put B&J on "special" offer.

Comment: It feels like someone's frozen some undiluted cordial! And also, when you get down to the last bit, it doesn't fall off the stick! Genius? Yes.

Comment: Yuck!! Ewwww! They r awful! I think any frozen ice lolly (under line) should not (under line again) wobble! Never in a month of sundays! If the moon was cheese and pigs could fly they still shoulden't wobble! >:[
