Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Pringles Limited Summer Edition Char-Grilled BBQ beef Confirmed sighting: Pringles Limited Summer Edition Char-Grilled BBQ Beef
Posted: 23:32 Thu 26-Jun-2008. Price: 89p. Location: Farmfoods, Hamilton, Scotland. Nutritional unusualness: No beef was hurt in the making of these.
Zeddy reports: Are these new? I admit I have not seen them before but they have a short BB code (Aug 08) and say Ltd Summer Edition. If they are... well... they taste like beef-flavoured Pringles. Yep bit of a shocker, eh? I bet they have been nowhere near a Char-Grill BBQ. Actually their smell is kinda like BS!

...Thanks for that, Z - do you think they might actually be a (not very limited) edition from summer 2007? (Plus: any excuse to mention the old Mitch Hedberg gag about char-grilled crisps: "Better flip that Frito, dad - you know how I like mine".) In other summertime savouries: from what I've tried so far, Bertolli's (somewhat Focaccine-like) Baked Bites have a definite edge over Ryvita's (thankfully non-Ryvita-resembling) "Irresistible" Baked Crispy Limbos - but who will win in the four-way face-off brewing between Doritos Collisions, Sweet And Sour or Peking Duck Pringles Rice Infusions, McCoy's new Extreme range, and Red Thai Curry Kettle Chips?

Comment: I'm just munching my way through "limited edition" Jalepeno pringles...wanted a chilli 'hit' but well disappointed...the it's just the bog standard/generic chilli flavour...

Comment: These Char-Grilled BBQ Beef Pringles WERE available in Summer 2007, but seemingly only in lesser 'grey-market import' shops like Home Bargains and Poundstretcher. Confusingly an identical tasting flavour called BBQ Sizzzzling Steak [with a very similar picture on the tube] was also available last Summer in other independent supermarket chains such as Jack Fulton and Farm Foods. Anyhow, whatever their name they have a rather unpleasant plasticky taste that doesn't resemble Steak, Beef or BBQ. Not a classic from Mr Pringle.
