Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Nestle Matchmakers Cookies Confirmed sighting: Nestle Matchmakers Cookies
Posted: 15:32 Thu 17-Jul-2008. Price: 1.09. Location: Asda, Hamilton, Scotland.
Zeddy reports: Stocking up with essentials at the supermarket and I spotted these chaps. "Soft chewy cookies containing milk chocolate chips and mint chocolate chips." That's on the front of the pack. On the back, it states plain chocolate! It is plain chocolate (that is dark chocolate to you non-chocolate aficionados). I am sure the little crispy bits from the Matchmakers are there too. I think these are the best of these type of cookies.

...Steady there, Zeddy - are these better than the ones based on Terry's Chocolate Orange? Anyway, in other newly-invented mintiness: Kellogg's Special K Bliss Mint Chocolate (Sainsbury's, 1.33/box of 6) are a refreshing alternative to Nestle's all-too-chewy Oats and More bars (in Chocolate, Strawberry or Cherry, 1.79 for 4 in Tesco), while Cadbury are launching Sweet Kicks Chocolate Mint as part of a new gum lineup that includes 3 flavours of Trident Fresh - though I can't imagine they'll be as popular with Zeddy as these M and Ms Dark he found for 99p in B and M, Hamilton, Scotland, demanding: "Boy! Are these good!? Why don't we get them here? They come from Mars Australia. A big 420g bag too. My favourite of all the varieties, so far."

Zeddy's bargain bonanza continued with this (presumably) German Kit Kat from Farmfoods, Hamilton, which claimed to be: "Extra creamy and extra crispy (why? are the regular ones bitter and stale?). They do taste slightly different, in a European chocolate type way. 69p for 3, four-fingered packs. Hoher Wert!" And maybe it's that creamy crispiness that inspired the Peanut Butter Kit Kat Chunky Spread idea sent in by "Jobo", who "Wants to get enough people together on this [Facebook] group, to warrant getting in contact with Nestle to get them to make the spread!! If you could maybe help with this, it would be greatly appreciated."

Comment: I'm all for 3D art, and perspective drawing was a great advance, but that packet graphic is oddly phallic.

Or is it just me? If NTK were still around they'd go for this story I'm sure.

Comment: Yep, dark M&Ms are indeed mega-niceness. In fact, I only ever buy M&Ms when I see the aussie ones in the likes of B&M and Home Bargains. Can't understand how the supply channels work that only the el cheapo shops get choc from the other side of the planet much cheaper than anywhere else.

Comment: Matchmakers (the sticks) are set to be relaunched under the Quality St brand! Seems a bit weird to me - you'd think they would have learned after Cadbury put everything under the Dairy Milk brand.
