Click pic to view comments - International sighting: Mars M and M Premiums International sighting: Mars M and M Premiums
Posted: 21:01 Fri 01-Aug-2008. Price: $3.99 each. Location: Safeway, Shoreline, WA. Sub-flavours: Mint Chocolate, Triple Chocolate, Mocha, Chocolate Almond, Raspberry Almond. Nutritional unusualness: 15-22g sugars, 19-24g carbohydrates, 6-9g saturated fat, 25-30mg sodium per serving (42g).
"Graham" reports: Not being a fan of M and Ms, primarily due to the generally nasty chocolate they use, I ignored these for a few weeks, but the sparkly, speckled shells and the deceptively capacious boxes - 170.1g each - eventually drew me in. It turns out that they aren't shells at all but an outer layer of patterned chocolate. Mint Chocolate - "sinfully good white chocolate mint wrapped in dark chocolate" - is genuinely delicious, while Raspberry Almond - "berry blissful raspberry flavored white chocolate and almond wrapped in dark chocolate" - is not bad at all, but the yummy raspberry filling is rather drowned out by the almond. Take it out, I say.

...Wow, these were only mentioned in the Comments a couple of weeks ago, and "Graham's" already stepped in with further details. Sadly, "anthony friar" wasn't quite as forthcoming about the Fruitella Espresso sweets he found for 1.55 Euros in "St Jean de Monts Venndee", gasping: "Saw these tiny boxes of sweets at the checkout, and thought I would give them a go, they are totally addictive, you really need to get hold of some to understand why I am ranting on about them..."

Here in the UK, Terry's are producing their Cosmic Toffee Chocolate Orange in a limited edition bar, and "Adam" claims he paid 45p for a "new" Kit Kat Chunky which was: "Like the old Kit Kat Chunky, but about half an inch shorter. Wrapper's the same size as before, so it's all baggy. This is presumably Nestle's response to the rising cost of ingredients..." - either that, or it was actually half a Kit Kat Chunky Milk Duo?

Comment: Speaking of Masterfoods I've recently seen Twix Dark in Netto...has this been spotted before? It had English writing on but was made in Germany. It came in a multipack of 12 single bars for £1.49.

Comment: yeah they had Dark Twixes in Somerfield earlier today - according to Zeddy's link (above) they're available "this month" (August?) "for a limited period only", though obviously they were previously available in the US:
