Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: GlaxoSmithKline Lucozade Black Edition Cola Energy Drink Confirmed sighting: GlaxoSmithKline Lucozade Black Edition Cola Energy Drink
Posted: 19:09 Sun 20-Nov-2011. Price: 1/500ml. Location: ASDA, Hounslow. Sub-flavours: 14.6g carbohydrate per 100ml, of which 11.3g sugars.
Yes, there was an earlier comment calling this "[an] odd one indeed... It's got that Rola Cola taste with a twang of the Original Luco at the end,", but it sounds like "Allan" was more inspired by their "Drink. Think. Do" on-bottle blurb about "Glucose. Your body takes it in. Fast. And turns it into energy to fuel your body and brain", as he reports: "Limited Edition. And tastes exactly like Coke."

...In other caffeinated cupfuls: Foodstuff Finds found Espresso Rich Coffee Beer kind of "bitter" compared to, say, Britvic's Glitter Berry J20 - the latter containing "cherry and red grape, with a hint of seasonal spice" flavours, plus "edible gold glitter" which must add a decorative touch to any subsequent vomiting or diarrhoea. Oh and Burger King UK have at last responded to McDonald's perfectly-drinkable coffee offering with their own Freshly Ground range, which seemed a bit frothy but definitely better thought-out than their Cranberry Sauce Chicken Sandwich current Christmas tie-in.

Comment: I thought the Lucozade was like Pepsi extra sugar, and for that reason, I'm in.

Comment: At least Lucozade have stayed out of the current "water prevents dehydration" controversy, apparently based on a confusion between the informal use of "dehydrated" meaning "thirsty", and the actual medical condition of the same name...

http://www.metafilter.com/ [URL display truncated]

"Dehydration (the clinical, medical term), has multiple forms (e.g. hypertonic, hypotonic, isotonic). Dehydration is caused by factors such as burns, vomiting, diarrhea, methamphetamine use, diseases such as cholera, yellow fever, diabetes. Some of those conditions are rather serious--if a doctor thinks a patient is at risk of developing dehydration due to a medical complication, they don't simply give them water to drink, they administer the proper balance of water to electrolytes depending on the condition."

Comment: Tastes like Coke? Gotta disagree! Nothing like that whatsoever. Pepsi... has more of a Vanilla taste, Coke, more of a Orange. This drink has little Cola taste or any fruity unusual taste.

I seem to like the original Lucozade however... so I like this quite alot.

Comment: Surprisingly, this is really nice. It's a cross between an ordinary cola and Lucozade, which is more appealing than it has any right to be.

By comparison, Pepsi Raw and Red Bull Cola were vile.

Comment: I've just realised that a bottle contains 62% of your recommended sugar intake.

So it's very nice, but excessive consumption may cause diabetes.

Comment: McDonalds are being a little tardy in bringing their 'McCafe' range of iced drinks over from the US. The range seriously competes with Starbucks over there, and is CHEAP. The UK Maccy D's need to get on the iced coffees now! Oh and you cannot beat a Greggs Festive Bake in the field of cheap, questionable quality and tasty seasonal food.

Comment: This doesn't work. It tastes like cheap cola.
