Posted: 09:45 Sun 20-May-2012. Price: 1.48 (6-pack). Location: Asda, Longwell Green. Nutritional unusualness: Contains "caramelised sugar powder".
I liked the sound of Marks And Spencer's Parmesan, Asparagus and Truffle flavour, and have also spotted McCoy's Sausage Striker and Chicken Winger in Spar - but now it's time to welcome back another old favourite, as "Rev. Stuart Campbell" reports: It's nice to see Tayto resurrect the GW brand, particularly as it means you can still find the legendary Sausage and Tomato flavour if you look hard enough, but this is the pinnacle of anything achieved under the Golden Wonder name since they sadly abandoned their Worcester Sauce flavour many a year ago.

HP Sauce is the finest new crisp flavour since Caramelised Onion And Balsamic Vinegar, but with the added benefit of appearing on nice normal crisps rather than horrible greasy brittle "posh" ones that are actually about as sophisticated and classy as eating shards of broken glass, splintered plywood and bone off the floor of a rough Glasgow pub at the end of a Saturday night.

They're not a million miles away from a good Worcester Sauce, only sweeter, tangier and fruitier, and you really do get an identifiable aftertaste of HP Sauce off them. In a country undergoing all manner of political trauma, this is the only thing that might happen this year connected to the Houses of Parliament that doesn't make you want to kill everyone in the country, and for that alone it's some sort of triumph. But mostly it's just an incredibly tasty crisp. I bought three six-packs, and I'll be going back for more.

Comment: HP Sauce flavoured Crisps sound delicious! I fear trying them though as HP sauce flavoured Big Soup was an unmitigated disappointment.

Comment: Yes, I remember these from their launch a few years back. I tried them recently and are good as ever.

Comment: by three, but I'm thinking that shloud be to three five eggs sounds like too many, even if small ) Eggsshloud be room temperature. To warm eggs quickly, crack eggs and dropinto a glass. Place the glass in a bowl of warm water.Size of Pan: This cake will make two 9-inch round layers. Shallow cakepans will not give this cake room to rise. Be sure the pans are 1 3/4to 2 inches deep. In The Press-Scimitar kitchen, this cake was mostpopular baked in a 9 13-inch pan.Mrs. Robert A. Crenshaw baked this cake very successfully in a 10-inchangel food cake pan. The cake was started in a low oven (300 degreesF) and baked for 30 minutes. Then without the oven door being opened, the heat was reduced to 250 degrees F and the baking continued for twohours. Mrs. Mattie Borkholder, cafeteria manager for Plough, Inc.,telephoned to say, Recently we had the 25-year banquet for the ploughemployees who have a record of 25 years' experience with the company. What do you think we had for dessert? That wonderful fresh apple cakecut in squares and topped with whipped cream. Since this cake is very tender, line the bottom of the cake pan withwaxed paper to insure perfect release from the pan. When done, turncake onto rack to cool. Peel off paper carefully. For slicing thiscake, use a sharp knife as is recommended for fruitcake. To Ice or Not: Mrs. James W. Worley who sent in this prize-winningrecipe included a caramel icing. In the Press-Scimitar's test kitchenthe cake was found to be luscious served plain. Innumerable calls fromhappy readers have indicated their preference in serving this cakeuniced. Or the topping may be varied for the occasion using whippednon-fat dry milk, whipped cream, ice cream, instant dessert whip, etc.Late Thanksgiving Eve a call came about this cake. I never ice thiscake. I will make a design on top with confectioner's sugar. We willtake it to Mississippi tomorrow. To Freeze: This cake may be frozen uniced or iced with this caramelfrosting made with confectioner's sugar. Cake shloud be well protectedwith clear plastic wrap and aluminum foil. If possible, return thecake to the pan in which it was baked. Then wrap entirely airtight. Somany of you have asked for it here is the prize-winning recipe:Source: The Memphis Press Scimitar, c. 1950s or 60s? Comment: These initially sounded quite nice....until you mentioned Stuart Campbell - and then I suddenly lost my appetite and felt quite ill.

They're also doing 'Heinz Tomato Ketchup' flavour as well. I found them side by side in my local Morrisons.
